Gloria D. Evans, 89, of Winside, died Saturday Nov. 25, 2023, at Wayne Countryview Care in Wayne.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Winside. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Winside. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Winside.
Memorials may be directed to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Ladies Aid in Winside and Providence Medical Center Hospice.
Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
Gloria Dorothea Mabel (Heithold) Evans, daughter of Edwin and Louise (Bleich) Heithold, was born on May 22, 1934, on a farm in Winside, Nebraska. Gloria was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Winside on May 24, 1934, and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on March 28, 1948. She went to country school District 28N through eighth grade and graduated from Winside High School in 1953. Gloria married Dennis Evans on June 7, 1964 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Dennis and Gloria farmed, where they milked cows, and raised cows and hogs. Gloria worked at the Winside State Bank for 13 1/2 years.
During her retirement years, Gloria worked part time as a visitation assistant at Schumacher and later Hasemann Funeral Home. She was a 4-H leader and belonged to St. Paul’s Ladies Aid, Town and Country Club and Center Circle Club. She loved cooking, baking and loved her flowers and garden. Most of all she loved her grandchildren and attending their activities.
Survivors include her sons, Craig (Cindy) Evans of Winside and Chad (Dawn) Evans of Denver, Colorado; daughter, Mari (James) Sawyer of Denver, Colorado; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis, on July 17, 2011; parents; infant brother and sister; grandparents; parents-in-law and brother-in-law.
