Providence Medical Center's Wound Care Service offers comprehensive treatment and care planning for patients with various wound care needs.

Lindsay Kvols, Nurse Practitioner, has been employed by PMC for the past five years, having graduated from Creighton University with her Doctorate in Nursing Practice in 2021.

Kvols is a Board-Certified Family Practice Nurse Practitioner and a Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON). With Kvols's level of education, scope of practice and experience, she can order and facilitate testing, prescribe medications and refer to other specialists to avoid delays in patient care.

"I would say, on average, people undergo treatments for less than 12 weeks for their wounds," Kvols said. "Usually, I see patients weekly or every other week to get them healed and back to normal activities."

PMC’s Wound Care Service offers an extensive variety of treatments and procedures to include advanced wound dressings, including application of skin substitutes, debridement, wound vac application and follow up care.

Kvols evaluates and treats patients in various locations at PMC; to include inpatient, swing-bed, outpatient and home health settings.

Having Kvols accessible in all these areas provide optimal communication and coordination of care for each patient to have a successful experience throughout their wound care treatment.

"If a patient receives specialized care from a podiatrist or plastic surgeon, we can coordinate and assist with dressing changes and treatment plans. This can save the patient several weekly trips to their specialist," Kvols says.

Kvols explained that wounds can be very debilitating for people, so facilitating the healing process feels all the more rewarding for her as a practitioner. "By having Lindsay right here at PMC, we have seen patients experience faster recovery times and allow for us to provide more comprehensive care for our wound patients," says Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nursing Officer, Nicole Haglund. "We are extremely grateful to have such a specialized service right here in our local community."

Kvols sees patients throughout the week, ensuring patients do not have long wait times to get an appointment. Wherever your final destination is, whether at home, a care center, or somewhere else, Kvols will make sure you are set up for success.
