Red Flag Warnings in effect for portions of northeast Nebraska

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Antelope, Boone, Cedar, Knox, Madison, Pierce, Platte, Stanton and Wayne counties from 11 a.m. Sunday, March 3 until 6 p.m. CST.

The following is the statement from the Weather Service.

"RED FLAG WARNINGS IN EFFECT TODAY FOR PORTIONS OF NORTHEAST NEBRASKA, SOUTHEAST NEBRASKA, AND SOUTHWEST IOWA... Affected Area...In Nebraska, Knox, Cedar, Antelope, Pierce, Wayne, Boone, Madison, Stanton and Platte. Winds...West 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.  Relative Humidity...As low as 11 percent. Impacts...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended."

The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, South Dakota has also issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from noon today to 6 PM CST this evening.  AFFECTED AREA...In Nebraska, Dixon. In South Dakota, Miner, Hanson, McCook, Hutchinson, Turner, Bon Homme, Yankton and Clay. WINDS...West 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.  RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 18 percent.  IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
