Wisner-Pilger XC results from Wayne Herald area runners

A late afternoon race moving into the evening hours for nearly 225 high school and 137 junior high cross country runners took over September 4.

Among those were Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, Winside, Wakefield  and Tri County Northeast.

From the Beemer Country Club, the Wisner-Pilger Invite attracted 11 girls and 14 boys teams.

The LCC girls finished runner-up with 46 points, Tri County Northeast placed eighth (101) and Wakefield took 10th (162). There was no team scoring for Winside.

Top LCC runners were senior Kate Tasler capturing fourth (23:03.5) and sophomore Leah Gould placing 11th (23:52.6).

Other results for the Bears came from junior Faith Galvin (19th - 24:48.3) and senior Addy Hoeppner (21st - 25:00.2).

Winside was led by freshman Avery Brummels with a sixth place medal (23:25.8).

Other Wildcat results came from junior Aleah Bilstein (27th - 25:35.2) and freshman Leah Uttecht (59th - 29:44.3).

The Wakefield girls were led by junior Jamie Lopez in 37th (26:39.9).

Other Trojan results were posted by junior Natalie Zuniga Hernandez (54th - 28:44.5), junior Angie Gomez (62nd - 30:21.2), sophomore Katelyn Walsh (64th - 30:29.5) and junior Jennifer Hernandez (70th - 32:04.7).

Tri County Northeast was led by a ninth place medal from senior Alejandra Hermosillo (23:46.4) followed by senior Rachael Bousquet (26th - 25:32.8).

Other Wolfpack results came from sophomore Hailey Millard (47th - 28:07.9) and sophomore Chloe Peters (49th - 28:23.2).

Homer won the girls division with 39 points. Junior Ava Brennan from Ponca won the girls 5k (21:50).

The LCC boys finished eighth with 138 points while Tri County Northeast placed 11th (150). There was no team scoring for  Wakefield and Winside had no male runners.

The LCC boys were led by a seventh place medal from senior Shane Langford (20:12.2).

Other results for the Bears were posted by freshman Owen Johnson (40th - 22:00.7), sophomore Sebastian Van Dongelen (48th - 22:40.2) and junior Hunter McGhee (68th - 24:19.3).

Wakefield times were posted by junior Will Benson (31st - 21:40.9) and junior Baldwin Garcia (81st - 26:24.3).

Tri County Northeast top runners were led by junior Jude Ridenour in 14th (20:31.1) and senior Alex Snyder (22nd - 21:02.2).

Other Wolfpack results came from sophomore Tucker Anderson (63rd - 23:50.8), freshman Logan Kraemer (79th - 25:57.3) and junior Matthew Bousquet (83rd - 27:10.1).

“Coach Brentlinger and I were very pleased with the effort and comparable improvements of the team from just one year ago," said Tri County Northeast coach Dave Uldrich. "They are a work in progress but improving as we move forward. With continued effort daily and gradual improvements this group will be ready to compete at the conference and district meets in very good fashion. The goal now is to continue to post better efforts weekly. Good Luck at the L-C-C Meet and Great Job Teams!”

Homer won the boys division with 38 points. Junior Jaiden Anderson from Archangels Catholic won the boys 5k (18:56.1).

In the JV girls division, LCC went first and second from sophomore Ava Christiansen (25:47.2) and junior Abbie Brummesl (25:50.7).

During the JV boys division, LCC times were posted by junior Luke Jackson (20th - 26:28.6), junior Dillion Sanderson (29th - 27:42.5) and senior Oscar Salas (30th - 29:47).

The nightcap showcased 2,000-meter junior high races.

In the girls race, LCC results were posted by Autumn Funk (28th - 8:57), Tenlie Christiansen (35th - 9:14), Ruby Tasler (37th - 9:19), Aizlyn Kossler (48th - 10:13) and Stella Graham (54th - 10:49).

Winside results came from MaKenna Thies (16th - 8:29) as well as Phebe Uttecht (55th) and Irelynn Pearson (56th) both running a time of 10:51.

During the boys race, LCC had 11 runners and were led by Rhett Egger in 13th (7:29) followed closely by Jeremiah Kinkaid (15th - 7:30).

Other results for the Bears came from Liam Recob (23rd - 7:55), Jaxon Hoeppner (27th - 8:02), Ryker Settje (28th - 8:05), Drake Jairam (62nd - 9:34), Caden Barnes (63rd - 9:35), Corbin Garcia (67th - 9:43), Josh Tarno (68th - 10:23), Easton Gould (69th - 10:33) and Grant Brummels (72nd - 10:36).

Winside's lone JH boy was Rei Shan Amoyen Snider in 74th (11:14).

Homer's Kamri Krause won the girls JH race (7:31) as Homer's Tommy Reed won the boys JH race (6:26).

The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge cross country team will next host the LCC Invite (Tri County Northeast and Wakefield attending) from the Cedar View Country Club in Laurel on September 11 at 10 a.m. for high school girls. High school boys will follow around 10:45 a.m. with a combined junior high race at 11:30 a.m.

The Winside runners will be off until Monday, September 15 during the Wayne Invite at 3 p.m.
