Applications being accepted for Legacy Fund grants

Through the generosity and commitment of individuals and organizations in the Wayne area, the Wayne Area Legacy Fund (WALF) has over $15,000 of funds available to invest back into the community this year.

For an organization to qualify for a grant, it must be a local non-profit 501(c)3.  In 2023, WALF granted $15,000 back to the community.

“As a committee, we are really proud that we have been able to grant over $70,000 back to many types of non-profits in the Wayne area since the inception of the fund.  We look forward to further growth of the fund, which will result in even more impactful grants to benefit the residents of the Wayne area,” said Karen Longe, WALF Committee Chair.

Applications are now being accepted.

Karissa Hays, advisory board member, explained the process to apply includes a simple application available online at www.WayneAreaLegacyFund.org.  Each request will be reviewed by the WALF committee and distributed accordingly.

“Community foundations are designed for individuals and organizations to come together, promote progress and ensure the quality of life in the Wayne area for generations to come”, said Hays.

The continued grant funding marks an exciting time in the WALF history, specifically indicating the future success of the unrestricted endowment and the Wayne area.

Hays further explained there is still time to give to WALF.  The fund is currently accepting donations. There are many ways to gift to the community endowment including cash, life insurance policies, required minimum IRA distributions, gifts of grain/livestock and others.

A donor may benefit by reducing taxable income (be sure to consult a tax advisor).
