Community Chest campaign underway

Board members of the Wayne Community Chest have set a goal of raising $45,000 for the 2023-2024 campaign and mailings are being sent to local businesses and individuals.

A total of 17 organizations receive funds from the organization.

They include:

Northeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership ($1,400);

Where Everyone Belongs - formerly FRIENDS ($1,500);

Wayne Community Theatre ($1,500);

Wayne County Historical Society ($2,000);

Wayne County Family Coalition ($4,000);

Wayne Activity Center ($1,500);

Wayne Public Library ($1,500);

Salvation Army ($1,000);

TeamMates of Nebraska, Wayne ($2,000);

Wayne Association of Congregations and Ministers ($6,000);

Greenwood Cemetery ($2,000);

Boy Scout Troop #174 ($2,400);

Wayne Kids Club After School Program ($2,000);

Wayne Girl Scouts ($1,000):

Wayne Senior Center ($3,000);

Wayne Haven House ($5,000);

Northeast Nebraska Child Advocacy Center ($2,000).

Solicitation letters are being mailed to businesses and individuals in the community in an effort to raise the necessary funds to support these requests.

In addition, several fundraisers are being planned to supplement the donations.

For over 50 years the Wayne Community Chest has provided a cost-effective way to raise funds for a number of agencies serving the Wayne area. Because funded agencies incur no fund-raising expenses, the maximum amount of funds are available to provide agency services.
