Ground broken for Early Learning Center

Several groups have been involved in ground breaking for the Wayne Community Schools' Early Learning Center.

On Monday (Oct. 9) school administrators, board members, several members of the construction team, the architect for the building and those responsible for the financial aspect of the project gathered on the location of the new building.

Wayne Board of Education President Dr. Jodi Pulfer told those in attendance that the process has taken several years and thanked the community for its support in an effort to "provide our students with the best education possible."

Dr. Mark Lenihan also spoke and echoed Dr. Pulfer's comments and talked about the project moving forward. This includes the building of a Pre-K through second grade facility, additional classrooms at the junior-senior high building and renovations to other areas of the building.

Following the ground breaking with the above mentioned groups, several students from the Early Learning Center took their turns with the shovels and "broke ground."

In addition, kindergarten students and another group of students currently attending the Early Learning Center gathered at the site on Tuesday to conduct their own "ground breaking."

It is anticipated the area will be fenced off by Hausmann Construction later this week and work could began within the next two weeks.
