Auditorium renovations are underway

From car shows in the 1930s, to dances in the 1970s and auctions in the 1990s, the Wayne City Auditorium has provided a space for countless community functions.

At the present time, the building is undergoing its first major renovation since its construction in 1935 as a part of Worker's Progress Administration (WPA) project. A plaque in the entry way of the building lists the auditorium as project # 2581 and dedicates it to use by the community.

Through money generated by a city sales tax, a number of improvements and changes are being made to the building which was recently named to the National Historic Register of Places.

The entire building will be getting a new ceiling and new lighting.

The heating system, including the original boiler is being replaced.
