March 11, 1984 — New bar hopes for full house

The King of Clubs might have an ace in the hole. The management of Wayne's newest cocktail lounge, "The King of Clubs," thinks that "ace" is to attract a broad range of customers by offering drinks at a fair price and good service in a pleasant atmosphere. The bar, which is scheduled to open this Wednesday, is located at 109 Main St. in downtown Wayne. The building formerly housed "George's Big Apple," a lounge that attracted a predominantly college crowd. Delbert Olson will manage the bar while his son, an owns the bar with his partner, Bonnie Gregor.

Olson said the first order of business for the King of Clubs crew was to change the image of the bar. George's Big Apple had a reputation of being a rather boisterous place at times. "We completely redid the whole place," Olson said. "We got all new everything- we did it right." The King of Clubs will seat about 210 people between the bar, the game room, King of Clubs Room and the dance area.
