The end of 49 years of service

After 49 years of service at Wayne State College, the water tower was brought crashing to the ground Friday. The falling of the tower brought some tense moments as the cable used to pull it over broke on the first try. Workmen climbed the tower, which had been cut loose
from its moorings, to splice the cable. As it started to fall the second time, the legs twisted, threatening to drop it on the shelter house in the background. But the tower straightened and fell right on the mark to the cheers of a throng of students, professors and townspeople.
