Salvation Army Bell ringing to begin

Posted

Beginning Friday, Nov. 24 you will see the familiar Salvation Army red kettles and hear the bells as the Wayne Extension Unit of the Salvation Army begins its Annual Red Kettle Campaign.

The ringers will be out on Fridays and Saturdays from Nov. 24 to Dec. 23. The bell ringing campaign is the primary fundraiser for the Wayne Extension Unit. Ninety percent of the funds collected in the bell ringing campaign remain in Wayne and assist with housing, utilities, medical, transportation and other needs of families and individuals.

In addition, the Wayne SA Unit sponsored a back-to-school event for school supplies for elementary children in August. The project was very successful and helped more than 90 children with backpacks and school supplies.

Red kettles and bell ringers will be at Quality Foods and Pac 'N' Save. There will also be small counter kettles at various businesses. Churches, service organizations, youth groups and individuals are invited to participate in the bell ringing campaign. The only requirements are to be friendly, dress warmly, smile easily, say thank-you, and ring the bell with vigor. To volunteer sign up at The Salvation Army Wayne NE Facebook page using the Sign-Up Genius app or look for a Salvation Army poster or ads which have a QR code to help you sign up.

For more information or to volunteer as a bell ringer contact Pastor Teresa Bartlett at 402 - 375 - 2669 or email sarmy.wayne@gmail.com. You can sign up for 1, 2 or more-hour shifts on multiple days as desired.

The Wayne Extension Unit thanks local businesses for supporting the bell ringing campaign by hosting counter kettles and as well as tripods and ringers. The Salvation Army Extension Unit thanks all the volunteer bell ringers as well as those who give so generously to the Red Kettle Campaign.
