After a two-person team kept up with the lengthy list of duties at the Wayne Area Economic Development Chamber for many months, the organization has finally added a new team member.

Brayden Sharp, a Norfolk native, started part time in mid-March after meeting Luke Virgil, the chamber's executive director, at Wayne State College's spring Career Fair.

Sharp graduated from WSC a few months later in May of this year with a degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing.

Following his graduation, Sharp decided to move into a full time position at the chamber, creating a life in Wayne with his wife of almost a year.

"My wife will graduate in December, so she still has a couple more months, but we just love the community too," Sharp said. "It's it's a special, tight-knit community, which was really attractive for us as a young family."

For the chamber,  Sharp handles all of the marketing efforts, including social media, websites, community event promotions and planning, tourism and more.

Currently, the organization has placed a large focus on Wayne's upcoming Chicken Show which will take place July 7 - 9 and the implementation of new sculptures for the town's sculpture walk.

Outside of the office, Sharp enjoys sports, going for walks with his wife and dog on the Wayne Walking Trail and visiting family.

At WSC, Sharp created two club sports- the Ultimate Frisbee Club and the Tournament Fishing Club.

Sharp said he looks forward to furthering his experience and responsibilities in the office as he becomes more acquainted with the office and the businesses in the area.

"I'm excited to learn and grow into my first full-time position," Sharp said. "I am always looking to see how I can use my strengths and balance those with my coworkers to help business and the community grow."
