WSC cross country teams finish season at regionals

JOPLIN, Mo. — Wayne State’s cross country teams completed their season Saturday in the NCAA Div. II Central Region Cross Country Championships, held at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course.

In women’s action, Wayne State finished 22nd out of 31 teams with 631 points. The three teams qualifying for nationals were Winona State (52), Augustana (95) and Pittsburg State (128).
Senior Brooke Solomon was the top Wildcat finisher, placing 105th out of 219 runners with a time of 23:08.7 on the 6,000-meter course. Kylie Pachta followed in 115th place at 23:16.8 and Lindsey Stuckey was 123rd at 23:20.5.

Also running were Callie Kirchner (141st, 23:54.1), Alison Stineman (155th, 24:12.5), Kelsey Larsen (161st, 24:22.4) and Madeline Kunz (175th, 25:06.6).

In men’s action, the Wildcats finished 23rd out of 29 teams with 619 points. Teams qualifying for nationals were East Central (Oklahoma) with 40 points, Pittsburg State with 112 and Northwest Missouri State with 125 points.

Senior Titus Kiptoo finished 47th out of 200 runners to lead the Wildcat men with a time of 32:04.7 over the 10,000-meter course. Following was Quentin Dreyer in 113th place at 33:31.2 and Abe Schroeder in 139th at 34:10.6.

Other Wildcat runners included Wakefield native Gabe Peitz (149th, 34:40.0), Brandon Mitzel (171st, 35:21.8), Brady Franzen (178th, 35:42.5) and Carter Roth (196th, 40:42.8).
