WSC football No. 8 in Super Region 4 rankings

The Wayne State football team is ranked No. 8 in the latest NCAA Super Region Four football rankings.

Colorado School of Mines leads the Super Region Four rankings at 9-0 followed by Western Colorado with an 8-1 record. Texas Permian Basin (7-1), Central Washington (7-0) and Augustana (8-1) round out the top five teams.

Minnesota State, Bemidji State and Wayne State from the NSIC are ranked sixth, seventh and eighth respectively with Angelo State and Texas A&M-Kingsville from the Lone Star Conference listed ninth and 10th.

The NCAA Div. II football championship playoff field will include 28 teams from four super regions, with 12 first-round games scheduled to be played on Saturday, Nov. 18. The top seed in each super region will receive a first-round bye.

The Northern Sun Conference, Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and Lone Star Conference comprise the 33-team NCAA Super Region Four this season.

Wayne State is 6-3 following Saturday’s 14-12 win over previously unbeaten and No. 12 Augustana.  The Wildcats will be on the road for the final two weeks with games Saturday at Sioux Falls and next Saturday, Nov. 11 at Winona State.
