WSC women golfers fourth in Fall Brawl

The Wayne State women’s golf team placed fourth out of 10 teams, shooting a two-day score of 652 at the Concordia-St. Paul/Minnesota State Fall Brawl played Monday and Tuesday at Troy Burne Golf Club in Hudson, Wisc.

The Wildcats shot an opening-day round of 331 and improved 10 strokes on the second day with a 321. Minnesota State captured the team title with a 611, topping St. Catherine by 17 shots (628). Winona State took third at 633.

Wayne State’s top scorer was junior Abbigail Brodersen, who placed 10th overall with rounds of 81 and 78 for a 159. Senior Abbey Kurmel followed in a tie for 18th, shooting 163 (84-79) and sophomore Saffire Sayre was tied for 23rd overall with scores of 83-81 and 164.

Senior Jazmine Taylor posted scores of 83 and 83 for a 166, tied for 28th. Tricia Hemann, a senior, was 38th with a 174 (84-90) and freshman Hailey Kenkel finished 43rd overall at 181 following rounds of 91 and 90.

Wayne State’s next meet is Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 30-Oct. 1, when the Wildcats play in the EverSpring Inn and Suite Mustang Invitational in Marshall, Minn.
