#6 Wildcats fall in five to #5 St. Cloud State, four finish in double figures

Saturday afternoon NSIC volleyball showcased a top Central Region match-up as #6 Wayne State College played host to #5 St. Cloud State.

From Rice Auditorium, it was a battle between the Wildcats and Huskies.

A back-and-forth fifth set favored St. Cloud State winning 3-2 over WSC. SCSU improved to 14-2 (8-0 NSIC) as the Wildcats had their nine-match winning streak snapped falling to 14-3 (8-1).

Scores of the match favored the visiting Huskies 27-25, 21-25, 17-25, 25-8, 18-16.

Taya Beller recorded a team-high 14 kills, four digs and eight blocks (two solo). Brooke Peltz led the Wildcats with 20 digs.

Channatee Robles posted a double-double with 13 kills and 14 digs to go along with four blocks (two solo) as Molly Romano added a double-double with 43 assists and 11 digs to go along with two kills and eight blocks.

Brooklyn Kusler added 12 kills and a dig as Maggie Brahmer tallied 11 kills and five blocks. Other digs came from Anna Borner (three), Allie Petry (three), Taylor Bunjer had one block (two) and Rhianna Wilhelm (one).

Robles finished with three service aces, Romano followed with two aces as Kusler and Peltz both had an ace.

Kenzie Foley took over for St. Cloud State with 34 kills on 62 attacks (.387) and had 14 digs. Emma Berran came away with 54 assists as Shelby Kimm totaled seven service aces.

St. Cloud State edged the Wildcats in attack percentage, .208 to .206. WSC won the block battle (15-8) but allowed 12 service aces. St. Cloud State committed 35 attack errors with the Wildcat finishing with 20 attack errors.
