The Nebraska State College System Board of Trustees formally inaugurated Dr. Marysz Rames as the 13th President of Wayne State College Friday afternoon in front of a packed house in Ramsey Theatre.
Dr. Rames, who was hired last July by the state college board, came to Wayne State in 2015 to take over for Curt Frye, who retired last year. She came to Wayne from Dakota State University in Madison, S.D., where shad served as interim president since August of 2014.
Rames received her bachelor of science degree in business administration and communication studies, with a minor in economics, in 1982 from University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo. She also earned her master's degree in educational administration in 1986 from UNC, and earned her doctorate in adult and higher education in 1997 from the University of South Dakota In Vermillion, S.D.
Although Rames worked in the South Dakota university system for most of her career, she started at Aims Community College in Greeley, Colo., before going to the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyo. She eventually found her way to South Dakota State, serving as vice president for student affairs from 2000-2014 before serving one year as DSU's interim president.
