The Rebuild Hank Committee announced the receipt of a $25,000 donation from the Gardner Foundation late Wednesday morning to assist in rebuilding efforts at Hank Overin Field.
Leslie Bebee, representing the Gardner family, told The Wayne Herald that her father's longtime friendship with Hank Overin was one of the reasons the family foundation approved the grant request.
The donation will allow for the completion of the press box, purchase of a new public address announcement system, and completion of the fencing and main entrance to the facility.
“We are extremely grateful to the Gardner Foundation for this generous gift to our project,” committee chair Pat Melena told The Wayne Herald. “We are working hard to have this completed by the time we host the American Legion Juniors area tournament in July, and we want to thank the Gardner Foundation for this wonderful gift.”
