State relay team will lead Laurel girls team
With all four runners returning from a team which holds the school record, the 3,200-meter relay should be one of the strongest events for the Laurel girls.
The team placed third in districts last year and is hoping to qualify for the state meet this year. Team members are seniors Dee Maxon, LaRae Nelson, Shelli Taylor and Cyndi Jonas.
Coach Al Siepkes has 15 girls on the team this year and quitena few are out for the first time in their careers. Among them are five juniors. Siepkes says he is hoping those newcomers come around toward the end of the season.
In addition to the two-mile relay, Maxon will run in the mile and mile relay. Nelson and Taylor will run in the mile relay and Jonas will run in the mile relay and 800-meter run.
