April 1, 2004 — Rats are teaching science at Wayne Middle School

They are not exactly a welcome sight in your home, but kids at Wayne Middle School are excited about the rats that are helping teach science in their classroom. The two albino lab rats will help students gain hands-on experience with the scientific method while they explore nutrition.

Ellen Imdieke's class will discover just how much milk does a body good by studying to bodies- those of two lab rats. Students weigh, measure and observe two rats as they grow up on exactly the same number of calories, with the exception: milk.
