August 14, 2005 — WSC President Richard J. Collings: 'celebration of teaching and learning'
This week is a celebration at Wayne State College - "A Celebration of Teaching and Learning." That is the theme of Friday's inauguration of Dr. Richard J. Collings as the school's 11th president. In the 10 months since he arrived at Wayne State College Collings said he has learned a great deal about the collge, community and region. The weather and landscape of Nebraska have both come as pleasant surprises. Collings also said that he and his wife, Marilyn, have been warmly received by the campus community, the town of Wayne, and the region. "I like Nebraska," he said. "It has been a very welcoming state.
I've found that, by and large, that Nebraskans aren't overly guarded in their inital interactions with newcomers. They have an openness that is refreshing."
