April 22, 1965 — Norwegian 'girl' to help save lives in Wayne area

A "girl" who came to Wayne from Stavanger, Norway, may help save lives in Wayne County, according to Fire Chief Ivan Beeks and VFD president Bud Froehlich. "Resusci-Anne," better known as "Resuscitation Annie," is here help firemen help themselves and help others help themselves. She and a sextet of firemen are available for appearances at any group meeting. The "girl" is a fold-up dummy equipped for mouth-to-mouth resuscitation demonstration
practice. She is the counterpart of such dummies being used throughout the world to save lives. Two lives in this area have already been saved because mouth-to-mouth resuscitation instruction has been taught. Annie is a newcomer to Wayne. Her presence may not interest the population, but she could help prevent a decrease in population with her life-saving ability.
