April 8, 1965 — Doug Manske honored on area's Top Twenty Team
Doug Manske, senior on the Wayne High basketball team, was named one of the top 20 basketball players in a vote of coaches last week. The 6'1" forward was one of the top players for the Blue Devils in about every category.Two other Wayne county boys were honored on the honorable mention list on the team named by Denny Fuehrer, sports editor for the Norfolk Daily News. Larry Redel, Winside, and Dean Elofson, Wayne, received this recognition. More than 90 players were nominated for the top 20 honors. From these the coaches with the help of fans chose the best. Keith maurer, Madison, Cam Sutton,
Laurel, and Jim Ehrhardt, Randolph, were among those named. Coach Maciejewski cited him for all-around team play on defense and offense. he played more quarters than any other Blue Devil and was chosen by his teammates as honorary captain of this year's squad.
