Football player speaks to kids about Nigeria
Celebrating International Week at Rainbow World, children were able to make crafts and taste foods from around the world.
They also listened to speakers from other countries. One speaker was Segun Adebayo from Nigeria, Africa.
Adebayo is attending Wayne State College where he is a football player and plans to major in Sports Management. At 14, he
moved to Houston, Texas, with his father. His mother is still in Nigeria.
He started by telling the children that when he went to school in Nigeria, they had to wear uniforms which were white shirts,
khaki pants and leather sandals, which his parents ordered form the school. He said the teacher was in charge and the children
could be spanked if they were naughty. He also told them they should be glad they live here and attend school here because they can have fun. In Nigeria, conditions are poor and children have to help put food on the table in any way they can.
Ending his question and answer session with the children, Adebayo asked them to tell their parents to come to Wayne State this fall and watch them play football because they are going to be good.
