Wayne vet visits Vienna

The Kiwanis International annual convention is usually held in such places as Minneapolis and Phoenix, so when it was
announced the 1983 convention would be held in Vienna, Austria, Dr. Ken Liska jumped at the chance to attend.

Liska, a Wayne veterinarian, attended the 68th annual convention of Kiwanis International as a delegate representing the Wayne Kiwanis Club. He is also lieutenant governor of the Nebraska-Iowa Kiwanis District and oversees 12 chapters.

"As a lieutenant governor, nearly half of my expenses for the convention were paid for," Liska said. "The cost wasn't the primary reason for going, but it afforded us a great opportunity." Liska was accompanied on the trip by his wife, Jan.

Liska was one of approximately 5,000 delegates attending the convention. An additional 9,000 to 10,000 members and their
families pushed total attendance close to 20,000. Liska said that Vienna had no trouble accommodating the group.
