August 19, 2004 — Winside school has new faces

Winside students and teachers will be seeing two new faces around the halls this year. Taking over the WHS Principal and Activity Director position is Jeff Messersmith. "I'm very excited to be here in Winside," he said. "After experiencing larger school systems, I feel like kids in smaller systems have better learning opportunities. I also like living in a smaller community environment. Being here is a great opportunity." Mr. Messersmith and hiw wife Teresa are residing in Winside. Besides his Principal and Activity Director duties he will also be the head basketball coach.

Another new face at WHS but not new to the community of Winside, will be Mark Koch. Mark was a 1982 graduate of Winside High School and is the son of Rosie and Leon Koch. Mark will be teaching Industrial Technology and will also be the head football coach. He and his wife Kim are residing at Woodland Park in Norfolk as she is employed in Madison. They have two children, Kalin, 13, and Kristie, 10, who will be attending school in Winside.
