Area twirler wins state honors
Carla Miller, 15-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Miller of Winside, received a third place trophy in the senior division of the state twirling contest sponsored by the National Baton Twirling Association at Omaha Sunday.
Miller, who is now eligible to compete in the national contest at St. Paul, Minnesota, in January, also received a first place trophy for her solo in the intermediate division of the open national contest.
She is a featured twirler for the Winside High School band and recently performed at the Old Settlers Reunion.
