August 20, 1964 — Australian Traveler, 19, Stops Briefly in Wayne
Trevor Wright, Ashburton, Australia, not only is a seasoned traveler at 19, but he knows how to travel cheap and fast. He was an overnight guest Friday in the Orville Erxleben home and recounted some of his experiences since leaving his homeland April 20. He left Melbourne, Australia and visited Hong Kong, Singapore, Naples and Portugal. He spent 15 days hitchhiking throughout England and Scotland. He flew to Paris and then thumbed his way through Switzerland, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, Munich, and East Germany. He arrived in New York July 22 and visited the World's Fair, New Jersey, Washington, D.C., North and South Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. So far in his travels he has hitchhiked more than 13,000 miles.
