August 27, 1964 — New Facilities Near Complete at Northeast Experiment Farm

CONCORD - "Completion by Christmas" is the goal of workers engaged in construction of the headquarters building at the Northeast Nebraska Experiment Station two miles east of here. The faculty is unique in being the hub of operations in Northeast Nebraska for all off-campus services of the University of Nebraska; agricultural research, agricultural and Home Economics Extension, and off-campus and continuing education courses. The building is made possible, in part, by a grant to the University of Nebraska Foundation by the Northeast Nebraska Experiment Farm Association and C.D. Haskell, Laurel. Current projects underway, being conducted by Alexander and Arnold Witte, agronomy technician, include: fertilizer studies, including zinc, sulfur, phosphate and potassium, with emphasis on phosphate placement, Phosphate and sulfur applications on alfalfa, with various combinations and methods of application being evaluated. 1964 insect control demonstrations involve both rootworm and corn borer controls.
