Wayne honored for school music program
The Nebraska Music Educators Association's annual All-State Conference/Clinic was held in Lincoln, Nov. 16-18.
At the Awards Banquet, Thursday evening, Nov. 17, special award recognition is given to those high schools whose class enrollments demonstrate high involvement in their music programs. If a student is in both choir and band, they can only be counted once in the totals.
In Class B, there are three levels of recognition - Level 3, "Noteworthy," in which 40-49 percent of the students are involved; Level 2, "Exceptional," in which 50-59 precent of the students are involved, and the top, Level 1, "Exemplary," in which 60 percent or more of the students are involved.
Since this special award began in 2005, Wayne High School is the only school in Class B to receive the Level 1 Award every year.
This year, 78 percent of the students in Wayne High School are involved in the Music Program. This is the highest percentage of involvement of students in the Music Program at any High School in the state of Nebraska this year.
