From the Dec. 29, 2011 edition of The Wayne Herald:
McDermott fondly recall WSC days
Former Wayne State Coach Greg McDermott has energized Creighton University since
his arrival in 2010. The Bluejays are ranked in the top 25 in Division I and went into the
holidays with a 10-1 record after an impressive win over Northwestern last week.
Wayne State fans still remember the days when finding a seat at Rice Auditorium wasn't
all that easy during McDermott's day leading the Wildcat men's basketball team. In six
seasons he posted a 116-53 record and led the team to two NCAA Div. II tournament
appearances, including the 2000 season when they hosted the tournament and were one
win away from the Elite Eight.
