From the February 2, 2012 edition of The Wayne Herald:
Donations sought to purchase new playground equipment
A goal of raising $50,000 for new playground equipment to be installed at the current Wayne Middle School location is within reach, but additional donations are still being sought by those involved with the project.
Funds generated from this year's fund drive by the Wayne Community Schools Foundation, along with donations from the Wayne Elementary School's Education Boosters (WEB) have generated $36,000 toward the goal.
Additional fundraisers are being conducted at Wayne Elementary Schools, and the Wayne Community Schools Foundation anticipates alumni and others will continue to make contributions toward the goal.
Students at Wayne Elementary School will be re-located to the current Wayne Middle School beginning with the 2012-2013 school year.
A number of pieces of playground equipment currently at use at the Elementary School will also be re-located. However, money is needed to purchase several new pieces of equipment that will be safe for children to play on.
Anyone wishing to make a contribution toward the new playground equipment may do so by sending a check to the Wayne Community Schools Foundation, P.O. Box 23, Wayne, Neb. 68787.
