Arts, crafts winners headed to districts
Purple ribbon winners in the recent Arts and Crafts Festival sponsored by the Wayne Federated Woman's Club will compete in the Woman's Club district festival on March 20 in Laurel.
Local winners were announced during the annual event held Saturday afternoon in the Wayne city auditorium.
Handiwork of numerous area residents was displayed.
The club also sponsored a noon luncheon in conjunction with
the festival.
Purple winner exhibits were shown by Eleanor Manning, glazed and stained ceramics, embroidered pillow cases, silk flowers; Bernice Damme, painting, china plate, crocheted
afghan, silk flowes; Florence Koplin, afghan; Marian Jordan, pieced quilt; Hzazel Lentz, cross-stitched pillow, crocheted hangers; Mildred West, needlepoint, woven pillow; Dorothy
Grone, placemats, needlepoint under plastic canvas; Helen Echtenkamp, quilt; Matilda Reeg, pieced coverlette, wall hanging; Marjorie Olson, casserole cover; Turena Walde, dress; and
Alice Leonard, embroidered dish towels.
