A Japanese lesson
Third grade youngsters of Wayne's West Elementary School last month concludes a health unit on good nutrition. Youngsters, students of Mrs. Don Larsen and Mrs. Keith Lubberstedt, ended the unit with a Japanese dinner prepared by their teachers.
The unit was inspired by a nutrition class taught at Wayne State College last summer and the fact that Mrs. Larsen's sister, Nancy Cox, is living in Japan. Mrs. Cox sent the youngsters several articles from Japan, including tee shirts, magazines, post cards, chopsticks, and a rice paper book.
Guest speaker during the meal was Mrs. Becky Wilson, who shared her experiences living in Japan. During the unit, youngsters also wrote letters to Japanses third graders.
