From the February 8, 1962 edition of The Wayne Herald:
New wood carving installed
An inspiration to worship, was how Rev. S. K. de Freese described the wood carving recently installed at Redeemer Lutheran church, Wayne.
The statue is five feet tall, made of one piece of Linden wood. It is an original statue titled "Our Lord."
The work was done by hand carvers in Italy over a six-month period and has a waxed finish in natural color. The work has been placed on the crown of the altar and is a group memorial of the church.
Rev. de Freese said he felt the intricate detail work made the statue an outstanding masterpiece
