February 28, 1985 — Opera to be presented at Wayne State
Puccini's opera La Boheme will be performed at Wayne State College Tuesday, March 19, by the Midwest Opera Theater. The 8 p.m. performance in Ramsey Theatre in the Val Peterson Fine Arts Center is another segment of the college's Special Programs Series. Set in Paris in the 1890s, La Boheme is the poignant love story of two people surrounded by their Bohemian artist friends. Sung in English, the opera has four main characters, Mimi (played by
Christine Stephenson), Rudolfo (Kirk Stuart), Marcello (David Majoros) and Musetta (Carolyn Finley). The Midwest Opera Theater is a seven-year-old touring and educational affiliate of the Minnesota Opera of St. Paul. This performance is a part of a 12-week Upper Midwest Tour. The tour is supported by the Afffiliated Arts Agencies of the Upper Midwest: Iowa Arts Council, Minnesota State Arts Board, North Dakota Council on the Arts, South Dakota Arts Board, Wisconsin Arts Board, with funds provided by the National Endorsement for the Arts.
