County Commissioners Elect Eddie Chairman

The Wayne County Board of Commissioners Tuesday elected Kenneth Eddie of Carroll chairman of 1972. The board also elected former chairman Floyd Burt to the chairmanship of the County Welfare Board. County Clerk Norris Weible was elected clerk of the county board.

Reappointed to the County Board of Health were Sheriff Don Weible, chairman; Dr. Roy Matson, county physician; and County Superintendent Fred Rickers.

The commissioners voted to allocate $500, which will be matched by a grant from Ak-Sar-Ben, for use in building and repairs at the county fairgrounds. The board also voted $100 for dues for membership in the Northeast Nebraska Association of County Officials during 1972.

The board voted to inform State Sen. LeRoy Pfister of its support for LB 786, which would lower the county's medical welfare costs.

The County Commissioners will meet again Jan. 18, and thereafter meet every first and third Tuesdays of the month. Jan. 18, a public hearing will be held in the Commisssioners' room at 2 p.m. Purpose of the hearing will be to present and adopt a one and six-year road improvement program.
