Toys donated to Wayne area special education

A group of special education students in the Wayne-Carroll school system will have a bunch of new toys to use during the school days thanks to a local business. Sears Catalog Store donated the toys to the Kiwanis Club, which in turn gave them to school.

George Gahl manager of the store, said the display toys have gone to Omaha in past years but this year he decided to put them to use locally.

"I was especially pleased with the way they were used this year," he said.

Displaying some of the toys - everything from boxing kangaroos to a talking clock -are Gene Bigelow, Kiwanian who helped distribute the toys; store employee Mrs. Dareld Soden and special education teacher Gertrude Vahlkamp.
