Finn shows champion gilt
Carroll producer Patrick C. Finn exhibited the reserve champion purebred entry at Monday's 17th annual Norfolk Swine Show.
His entry, a 240-pound Hampshire gilt, had earlier placed second in the mediumweight division. In 1981, Finn topped the purebred division.
All five entries enterd by the Finn family ranked in the top five in their respective weight divisions.
Finn's wife, Marilyn, took third in the mediumweight division, wih daughter Annette earning fourth. Sons Joseph and Michael ranked second and third in the lightweight and heavyweight divisions, respectively. The wins came with the Hampshires.
Mrs. Robert (Elaine) Hansen of Wakefield placed fourth in the purebred lightweight class with her Spot entry.
Topping the show, which attracted 84 entries, were Richard Kubik, Prague, in the purebreds, and Jeff Wagner, Creighton, in the crossbreds. Judge was Terry Schrick, Waco.
The 84 entries were entered in the carcass contest. The event is sponsored annually by the Agricultural Economics Council of the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce.
