Couple shares citizen award
The highest award presented by the Wayne Chamber of Commerce was a double honor Sunday night for one Wayne couple.
Bob and Marilyn Carhart, lifetime residents of Wayne, received the chamber's Annual Citizen of the Year award for 1982 during the chamber's annual meeting at the Black Knight Restaurant.
Traditionally, the award is given to one citizen for his or her outstanding contributions to the community during the year.
"We were very surprised and flattered," the Carharts told The Wayne Herald Monday afternoon.
"Wayne is a good community in which to receive acknowledgment for the things you are involved in," Bob said, adding that both he and Marilyn appreciated the fact that the chamber would take time to recognize them.
