January 24, 1985 — Dance company coming to Wayne
The next Special Program Series performance at Wayne State College will be by a dance troupe led by a man who began his career sitting down. Clive Thompson, founder of the Clive Thompson Dance Company, was inspired to become a dancer after watching a stunning performance from the audience - while sitting down - in his native Jamaica. Few dancers will be sitting, however, when the New York-based Clive Thompson Dance Company comes to Wayne State Tuesday, Feb. 5. That's when the fourth of the six 1984-85 Special Program Series presentations will take place at WSC's Ramsey Theatre in the Val Peterson Fine Arts Center. Thompson's Dance Company is in its fourth year. It is a multiracial repertory company with some 15 dancers coming to Wayne.
