World renowned ballet group scheduled to perform at WS

One of the world's most celebrated ballet companies, the San Francisco Ballet, comes to Wayne next Tuesday night, giving area residents a rare opportunity. Seldom does any ballet troupe appear in this area, let alone one acclaimed world-wide as among the finest. The performance is scheduled for 8 p.m.

The San Francisco Ballet founded in 1933, is America's oldest classical ballet company. It is the company which introduced the full-length "Nutcracker" to American audiences and has repeated it annually for SRO crowds at Christmastime. While the "Nutcracker" and other classic ballets still are in the repertoire, the company has achieved added fame through the new works created by its director and chief choreographer, Lew Christensen.

The San Francisco Ballet has toured North America and South America, Asia, and Europe, earning renown as this country's most versatile dance troupe. The London Times called it "one of America's two chief ballet companies."
