From the July 17, 1963 edition of The Wayne Herald:
Officer gets 10 dog surprise
Queenie added to her kingdom recently, leaving the Wayne Police Department in a bit of a quandary.
Queenie, as she has been named, was picked up with out a license and apparent home.
While the department was hesitating on destroying her, Queenie presented them with nine pups.
This saved her, as she now resides at Officer Scotty Thompson's home. Officer Thompson's son, Scott, seems pretty well pleased with the turn of events.
