Sister wins residence hall room waiver for her brother
Seventeen-year-old Luke Stoltenberg of Carroll, a recent graduate of Wayne High School in Wayne, did not attend the Wayne Chicken Show on Saturday. But his 11-year-old sister Katie did and she won a contest for him.
Katie's entry was selected as the winner of a one-semester Wayne
State College residence hall room fee waiver, valued at $930 for the
coming semester, at a drawing at this weekend's Wayne Chicken Show.
The residence hall room fee waiver will be applied to Luke's first semester of enrollment as a full-time student at Wayne State this fall.
Entries could be transferred to an immediate family member.
It was hard to tell who was more excited- Katie or her grandparents John and Dorothy Rees of Wayne, both Wayne State graduates who brought her to the Chicken Show.
"We wouldn't have him go anywhere else to college," his grandmother said. "We're glad he chose the right one."
Luke, the son of Verlyn and Holly Stoltenberg of rural Carroll, was glad Katie won the contest.
"That's pretty neat," he said. When asked what he will do for his sister, he chuckled. "I'll probably have to do something nice."
