Ball field dedication held in Concord
The dedication of the Bucky Wesley Memorial Ball Field was held Saturday afternoon in Concord.
Pete and Pat Wesley donated the 80' by 175' lot in memory of their son, Bucky Wesley, who had leukemia and passed away.
The couple has 10 children and 30 grandchildren. Three of their children and families were present for the event.
The donated land is located next to the park and completes the block. A house on the lot was torn down.
Fence is being put up from money donated from the Siouxland Foundation.
Pat noted her son always wanted to play ball and would be happy to know children now will have a place to play.
Trees will be planted in the fall from grant money from the Natural Resource District.
Ray Stohler has been instrumental in grant writing for the project.
Besides working on the ball field, a number of individuals have been trying to raise money for playground equipment for the
park.
So far, $3,700 has been collected from grants and donations.
