Winside veternarian saves local farmer's life

N.L Ditman, Winside veternarian, held the plaque given to him by the Nebraska Funeral Directors Association for saving an area farmer's life last February.

Rowan Wiltse of Wiltse Mortuaries in Wyane, presented the plaque to Ditman Monday night.
Ditman massaged the chest of farmer Fred Heier and gave him artifical respiration when he collapsed on his farm and quit breathing. Heier was rushed to the Wayne Hospital and later transferred to Omaha for open heart surgery.
