March 11, 1994 — 'Devils' draw a crowd
A large percentage of the population of Wayne was not home Thursday night. They were in Lincoln dressed in blue and white making noise at Pershing Auditorium. That is where the Wayne High Blue Devils made a valiant come-from-behind effort in the first round of the State Basketball Tournament against Omaha-Gross. Fan support did not stop when the final score read Omaha Gross 48, Wayne 46. The fans gave their state tournament team a standing ovation for tis never say die effort.
