March 17, 2005 — A marriage made...on the basketball court
The last thing on Troy Malone's mind when he started his basketball career at Wayne State College turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to him. It wasn't a conference championship or a regional berth or an all-conference award...it was getting married. Troy, a member of the Wayne State College men's basketball team, married Kim Hefner, a member of the Wildcat women's squad, last summer. Troy, a senior from Knoxville, Iowa, proposed
to Kim during a Fourth of July fireworks show in Gillette, Wyo., Kim's hometown. The two were married June 26, 2004 in Bighorn, Wyo. Kim, also a senior, is majoring in biology and carries a 3.643 grade point average while Troy has a 3.41 gpa and is majoring in health and physical education. Since getting married last summer, the Malones have been called the "Mom and Dad" of the Wildcat basketball teams by their teammates.
