March 21, 1985 — Wayne physicians expanding diagnostic cardiac services

Area residents with heart conditions can now be evaluated closer to home through the use of a new and sophisticated treadmill recently purchased by the Wayne Family Practice Group PC. Dr. Willis Wiseman said in addition to stress testing on the treadmill, the machine provides another primary function through Holter monitor testing. The Holter monitor is a battery operated device which patients wear a designated length of time for round-the-clock monitoring, principally to diagnose and evaluate irregularities of the heart better known as cardiac arrythmias. Wiseman said the new stress testing machine also has the advantage of being fully computerized and capable of utilizing several pre-programmed protocols for administering various stress tests. Dr. James Lindau, also associated with the Wayne Family Practice Group, cited various statistics emphasizing the importance of the new treadmill machine to detect heart conditions.
