Brass in Blue concert set for Thursday April 12
The USAF Heartland of America Bands Brass in Blue, a pioneering symphonic brass ensemble, will present a concert on Thursday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ramsey Theatre on the Wayne State College campus.
This concert is free and open to the public; however, tickets are required. They can be obtained at the Wayne Herald, which is sponsoring the event. There is no reserved seating to the event, but attendees are requested to be in their seats 10 minutes prior to the
start of the concert. Tickets will be available at the door after advance ticket holders have been seated.
Representing more than 325,000 Air Force professionals, Brass in Blue showcases the service's excellence and precision in every performance.
Comprised of 10 brass players, one percussionist and a vocalist, the ensemble maintains a rigorous performance schedule presenting a diverse repetoire featuring orchestral transcriptions, patriotic favorites, jazz standards, new compositions and arrangement.
Brass in Blue is part of the USAF Heartland of America Band based at Offut Air Force Base, Nebraska. Musicians are full-time Active Duty members of the Air Force and have gone through Basic Military Training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.
Group members hold a combined total of 20 college degrees, 19 of them in music with more than 300 years of performance experience.
Members of the group are also active performers and educators in the Omaha metro area.
Brass in Blue's diversity and flexibility make it well-suited for all types of events. The group was selected to open the 2008 Grand Teton Music Festival, has performed the National Anthem for a Minnesota Timberwolves game, performs educational music classes for many Midwestern colleges, and regularly receives rave reviews from audiences across the Heartland.
